MEDDLE STUDIO IS A CREATIVE ARTS SCHOOL FOR ALL AGES

Our purpose is to offer a safe and inspiring space for people to express themselves creatively. We limit our class sizes so each student will receive the guidance, attention, and encouragement they need to complete each project in their own way.

We focus on the process and encourage each student to try out new ideas and materials. We also encourage everyone to present their work to the class. This helps students to see different approaches to art and also boosts confidence.

Meddle Studio opened it's doors in October 2011.

Courtney Blaskower is a native Californian artist and designer. Pulling inspiration from her surroundings and travels abroad, Courtney constructs home accessories, paintings, clothes, bags, and delicious treats for her family and friends.

Courtney started teaching at the Triton Museum in Santa Clara after moving to the Bay Area in 1999. Since then she has taught in both private and public schools all over the Bay Area. In 2011, Courtney launched Meddle Studio.

In addition to offering private lessons, Courtney is also working at Illumio leading the Creative Services and Content Marketing teams.

Prior to launching Meddle Studio, Courtney worked in the global marketing department at Symantec. During her five-year tenure she created marketing materials, designed tools to help streamline internal operations, and later set the marcomm strategy for Symantec's Global Services offerings.

Courtney received her degree in fine art from the University of Iowa. During her undergraduate years she studied in Italy at the Studio Arts Center International as well as the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland. Courtney also accepted a scholarship to study design at the California College of Art in San Francisco.

She lives with her husband and two children in Half Moon Bay, California.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

Art is a mirror, reflecting ourselves and the world we live in. My goal is to help students feel confident and proud of who they are through the process of making and sharing their art. I'm interested in how my students approach a project, their level of enthusiasm, where they might get stuck, and what they figure out as a result of the process.

I start off each session with an idea and a goal and let the students decide how to carry out their work. I'm there to spark their creativity while providing inspiring materials, technical advice, and gentle encouragement. Our small classes enable everyone to feel safe and connected enough to take risks and try something new.

I'm certain my students will love and be proud of what they create during our time together.
